The distinctive 2014 vintage is from vines planted at Matawhero, Gisborne, in 1985. Merlot based (43%), with lesser amounts of Cabernet Sauvingnon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, it was matured in seasoned and rejuvenated French Oak casks. A classy, subtle wine with good complexity, it's drinking well already, but likely to be at its best 2018 and beyond.
